The ABM College Network Administration Diploma Program provides students with a comprehensive view into the complex world of IT infrastructure and network maintenance. In our network admin college program, students will develop an extensive set of knowledge on everything from computer hardware and server deployment to network maintenance and security. Our skill-focused network admin training includes hands-on experience with enterprise Cisco hardware and advanced tasks in Microsoft Server 2022, Implementing and Administering Windows Server Hybrid Core Infrastructure.

Standard Admission

1. Alberta high school diploma/GED with English 30-1 and passing grade of 65%, verified by transcript, or non-Alberta equivalent. 2. Successful interview with school administration

Mature Admission

1. Must be 18 years or older (BC residents must be 19 years of age). 2. Successful completion of Wonderlic Test with a passing score of 20. 3. Successful interview with school administration. For students whose first language is not English and they don't have high school diploma from Alberta or equivalent high school diploma from other provinces, they must meet a Canadian Language Benchmark of 5.

Course Components

1. CompTIAA+ Essentials 220 -1001

In this course, students will install, configure, optimize, troubleshoot, repair, upgrade, and perform preventive maintenance on personal computers, digital devices, and operating systems. Based on CompTIA 220-1001 and, as you can see, they are heavily slanted towards hardware and networking.

2. CompTIAA+ Practical Application 220 -1002

In this module, students will configure device operating systems, including Windows, Mac, Linux, Chrome OS, Android and iOS and administer client-based as well as cloud-based (SaaS) software. Troubleshoot and problem solves core service and support challenges while applying best practices for documentation, change management, and scripting, support basic IT infrastructure and networking, Configure and support PC, mobile and IoT device hardware.

3. Cisco Networking - Routing & Switching

Students learn about building, configuring and troubleshooting Cisco devices, router and switches, as well as implementing IP Address schemes. Students will have hands on experience with Catalyst switches, routers, and Cisco Packet Tracers.

4. Microsoft Windows Server 2016 : Installation, Storage, and Computing

This module will prepare students to implement Windows Server 2016 infrastructure with installation and configuring of servers in an enterprise environment. Learn to configure Hyper-V, install and administer Active Directory, create and manage Group Policy.

5. Microsoft Windows Server 2016 : Networking with Windows Server 2016

This module is to learn how to administer a Windows Server 2016 infrastructure in an enterprise environment. The course validates a student’s ability to administer the tasks required to maintain a Windows Server 2016 infrastructure, such as user and group management, network access, and data security. Students will acquire the skills and knowledge necessary for implementing, managing, maintaining, and provisioning services and infrastructure in a Windows Server 2016 environment.

6. Microsoft Windows Server 2016 : Identity with Windows Server 2016

This module will prepare students to perform the advanced configuring tasks required to deploy, manage, and maintain a Windows Server 2016 infrastructure, such as fault tolerance, certificate services, and identity federation. Passing this exam along with the other two exams confirms that a candidate has the skills and knowledge necessary for implementing, managing, maintaining, and provisioning services and infrastructure in a Windows Server 2016 environment.

7. Windows Server 2016 : Upgrading Server’s skills

This module covers the new features and functionality in Windows Server 2016 including management, networking infrastructure, storage, access control, Hyper-V, high availability, and identity federation. The course also focuses on the more advanced concepts such as Dynamic Access Control (DAC), failover clustering, Microsoft Online Backup and changes with Active Directory, PowerShell etc.

8. Implementing Security in IT (CompTIA Security +)

Security+ Course module, students will learn to proactively implement sound security protocols to mitigate security risks. Quickly respond to security issues. Retroactively identify where security breaches may have occurred. Design a network, on-site or in the cloud, with security in mind.

9. Introduction to Linux Administration

CompTIA Linux+ module covers common tasks in major distributions of Linux, including the Linux command line, basic maintenance, installing and configuring workstations, and networking. 10. IT Service Management ITIL Foundation

Students will learn the importance of service management, both to IT service providers and their customers. It will provide an overview of the ITIL Service Lifecycle, its processes and the functions which carry out those processes. Also, How the ITIL best practice framework can be used to improve the quality, effectiveness and efficiency of service management in virtually any industry or organization.

11. Capstone Career Prep

Students work with a professional career counsellor to develop and optimize a professional resume to put forward for employers. Additional support in job searching, interview techniques, and other career transition skills are offered to ensure students have the best possible work prospects.

12. Practicum

Students will gain practical and hands-on experience to apply the knowledge and skills learned in class to real-world experiences in a professional capacity during a four-week practicum placement.
